In reading an interesting Blog post today, I came across some useful information. It stated that… “one quarter of the world’s population is using social media.” “Social apps are among the most used features of mobile devices. In fact, 65% of social network activity is from mobile devices. This means that mobile devices are becoming the first choice for social media users.” WOW!  did you guys catch that?  65%! So lets think about this? Lets say that your site, which should include social network activity, is older than a couple of years and there is a big chance that it was not built to be responsive. What does that mean you ask? Well, A responsive site is “an approach to web design aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience—easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling—across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones). A site designed with RWD adapts the layout to the viewing environment by using fluid, proportion-based grids, flexible images, and CSS3 media queries. So, … this means that your site is likely out of date and possibly out of reach to those 65% of social viewers! Also, more users will be getting smart devices, so there will be even more users consuming their web content from mobile devices than are doing so currently. Don’t be left out of the future markets. Make sure your site and social media outlets are current and ready for the new year and the new strategies. Keep up, or be left behind!
